Smoke Pot, End the State

Published by:

This April 20th, about a hundred people from all over the New Hampshire area gathered at the Concord State House for the 7th annual rally to end Prohibition. I was there with my camera to capture the event. People smoked pot. They played music. They wrote messages with chalk. They gave speeches and live-streamed interviews. They even gave away pornographic calendars sponsored by local businesses. Happy people living in peace.

Supposedly armed bureaucrats are “just following orders” when they kidnap and cage these peaceful people for having the wrong plant in their pockets, but when these same people gather together in large numbers, the evil law enforcers leave them alone. It’s a simple numbers game. An individual is an easy target. By outnumbering the bad guys, good guys can prevent and negate potential conflicts.

That is the lesson of the 420 Rally in Concord, and it is the strategy employed by the people moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. People who believe in liberty are coming together in one geographic location to live free and achieve liberty in our lifetime. The more of us there are, the less likely a potential conflict.

The day after this rally, people calling themselves the NH Senate voted to continue the war on peaceful cannabis consumers. Here’s what one of the so-called “Senators” told the Concord Monitor: “We are in a war…The last thing we need is to tell our citizens that it’s okay to use a little marijuana or any other illegal substance.”

I’ve got news for you, dude. It *is* okay to use marijuana. It’s NOT okay to be threatening peaceful pot smokers. We’re past the point where we have to defend marijuana. We’re at the point where the bureaucrats have to defend being against it. With each passing day, people are gaining more courage to live free as bureaucrats are becoming more impotent. These guys are criminals wearing badges, we smoked pot right in front of them, and their hired henchmen didn’t lift a finger to stop us. So they can either write some more words on paper for us to ignore, or they can put down the badges and join humanity.

Free State Politburo Says NO RECORDING

Published by:

I called into Free Talk Live last night to voice my concerns that the Free State Politburo was doing the wrong thing by attempting to prevent some media from recording Edward Snowden’s speech while allowing others. It is their right, sure, but it is stupid because it ignores the reality that in 2016, you can’t actually prevent someone from recording. Instead of preventing this peaceful behavior by their attendees, they could have encouraged recording, live-streaming, tweeting, and other forms of social engagement in order to capitalize on the event. They blew it.

DeLorean is Back But Why Did It Go? Because Govt

Published by:

TL;DR The politicians giveth, and the politicians taketh away.

This morning, I was delighted to read that the DeLorean, the car made famous by the 1985 movie “Back to the Future” is back in production after more than 30 years. I read through a handful of articles about its return and tried to figure out why it went away. I was surprised by a comment by DeLerean CEO Stephen Wynne, who said,

“It’s fantastic. It is a game-changer for us. We’ve been wanting this to happen. That was a green light to go back into production. That was prohibited. It was against the law to do it.”

Why was it against the law? I got on the phone with the Vice President of the company, James Espey, who explained it to me:

The DeLorean did not meet current Federal requirements, but a new law exempts it. The new law states that if a manufacturer produces fewer than 5,000 cars per year, then it is considered a “Low-Volume Manufacturer,” and they are therefore allowed to produce up to 325 “replica vehicles,” defined in the law as “a vehicle that resembles the body of another motor vehicle produced at least 25 years ago.” That makes them a new special class of vehicle with their own set of requirements. James shared the text of the law with me, and I will link to it here.

In other words, people calling themselves the federal government threatened to steal from car manufacturers if they produce vehicles that do not meet their requirements, and then they exempted certain manufacturers from those requirements.

Want your own DeLorean? Tough. You better be one of the lucky 325 first people to buy because the politicians will put the company out of business if they produce more than that.

Current Affairs Magazine Rips New Media a New Asshole

Published by:

I rarely get excited about Kickstarter crap. In fact, I’m subscribed to a YouTube channel dedicated to making fun of the bollox pedaled by wishful dreamers on the crowdfunding site. That’s why when I read that my college friend Nathan J. Robinson was selling subscriptions to a print magazine “which offers political analysis from an anarchist/ libertarian socialist perspective,” I was skeptical. Intrigued, but not sold. I needed to know more. Here’s what I discovered:

Current Affairs is a bi-monthly magazine with colorful artwork and such original topics as: the Cult of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Economic Undertones in Cinema, and the Politics of Children’s Literature. It’s the kind of magazine I would be proud to keep on my coffee table even if I disagree strongly with the sentiments of every article. It’s unique. It’s pithy. And I can tell it’s going to challenge me intellectually. I am tired of the predictable opinions and click-bait delivered by the new media’s 24-hour news cycle; it appears Current Affairs offers an antidote.

CopBlocker Wins Settlement, Pepper Sprayed and Assaulted on Camera – CopBlock Radio

Published by:

Last night CopBlock Radio spoke with Adam Rupeka, a CopBlocker who was arrested and pepper sprayed for flipping a cops the bird. Police beat him to gain Adam’s compliance, but he heroically remained calm and peaceful. He sets a good example by recording the interaction with multiple devices, live-streaming, following the golden rule, calmly asserting himself, and refusing to submit to arbitrary demands by badged individuals. Eventually Adam’s charges of “disorderly conduct” and “obstructing government administration” were thrown out, and instead he was awarded a settlement outside of court.

Call Me Skeptical

Published by:

I hate seeing good people manipulated. These two are being held without bail, and according to the FBI they confessed to wanting to join the Islamic State?

Forgive my skepticism, but this strikes my conspiracy funny bone. First, the FBI is always “catching” people that it set up in the first place. Second, these people look like average Americans, which feeds into the Police State narrative that our neighbors could all be terrorists, so we must relinquish our freedoms in return for “security”. But security from what?

Judge Burke Sentences James to Jail, Suspended

Published by:

Heroic activist, blogger, entrepreneur, and Free State Project participant James Cleaveland was sentenced in Judge Burke’s courtroom in Keene, New Hampshire for the charges of “disorderly conduct” and “resisting arrest”. His charges stem from a June 30th incident in which James was video recording police. According to officer accounts, James was ordered to move back from an “active scene,” and he complied. After complying with the first officer’s request, a different officer demanded he move back further. He refused and was arrested.
