Text messages direct to your contact lens

Cool! I can’t wait to utilize this technology! At the very least, it will be helpful to avoid squinting while posing for photographs. From the Telegraph:

Ghent University’s centre of microsystems technology has developed a spherical curved LCD display which can be embedded in contact lenses and handle projected images using wireless technology.
“Now that we have established the basic technology, we can start working towards real applications, possibly available in only a few years,” said Professor Herbert De Smet.
Unlike previous contact lens displays, which are limited to a few small pixels to make up an image, the new technology allows the whole curved surface of the lens to be used.
One application suggested by the researchers is a “one pixel, fully covered contact lens acting as adaptable sunglasses”.
“This is not science fiction,” said Jelle De Smet, the chief researcher on the project, who believes commercial applications for the lenses will be available within five years.
“This will never replace the cinema screen for films. But for specific applications it may be interesting to show images such as road directions or projecting text messages from our smart phones straight to our eye.”
The innovation is the first step towards “fully pixelated contact lens displays” with the same detail as a television screen.
The lenses could also be used for medical purposes, for example to control the light transmission toward the eye’s retina in case of a damaged iris.
For cosmetic purposes, the lens could be used the iris of the eye a tuneable colour, allowing the user to change it to suit their mood.

Writing for ADAM VS THE MAN

Published by:

I began my role at the ADAM VS THE MAN Studios as the Producer of the 20-minute nightly comedy newscast “AVTM” on YouTube. After 2 months of going strong 4 nights a week, and producing 33 episodes plus a pilot, the show was modified to a 5-minute news summary show. During the entire span of the show, I had the pleasure of taking a major role in the participation of writing for the show. While I plan on writing more in the future, I will be taking a hiatus for at least a year while I travel the country, beginning in January. Below are some highlights of my favorite segments that I’ve written for the show so far:

forgive me father its been two months since my last chat session

My dear friend and beloved artist Sam Gurry has a cool blog. Today I found this video she made…

I love Sam’s style. She calls it “collage.” She works with a lot of blurring the lines of different artforms, in a way that blows my mind. She did the first-ever banner for this very website, and was also my competition during a recent costume competition at a New York City burlesque show. I was horrified and delighted at the same time, and I hadn’t even taken my drugs yet.

There’s something so deeply captivating to me about her animated collages, if not for just the simple fact that they’re so much fun to look at. Sam is an amazing artist in my opinion. She just joined up with the amazing crew over at TrueFalseTheatre.org.┬áIf you want to check out more, you can subscribe to her blog as well as her vimeo account.
