Adam Vs The DerrickJ Interview

Published by:

Today I will be the first-ever Skype call-in guest on the Adam Vs The Man Podcast. This is more or less a practice for Adam with using the equipment and making sure that everything will work when “real guests” come on. But for the meantime, I’m happy to get the exposure. I expect it will be a good interview. Folks can watch live on uStream from 12 noon to 12:15pm.

I will be discussing my documentary, Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree and about my self-imposed Exile Tour. As I travel the continent with my video camera and microphone, I’ll be documenting individuals who are achieving freedom today and blogging about them on LibertyOnTour.com and also my website, LiveFreeOrDance.com. I’ll be reporting on individuals who have declared their independence from a man who created his own independent local silver-backed currency to a woman who is creating life-sustaining gardens in city flats.

Currently I am working as the Producer of the Adam Vs The Man Newscast. As part of that job, I am assembling a team of comedy writers to report on the days’ news. I am running auditions currently and can’t wait to work with the writers to produce the pilot episode which will be September 27th, 2012. We go live October 8th, 2012.

Victimless Crime Spree Makes Nashua Patch

Published by:

Today I was sent an article from the Nashua Patch in which I was featured. Thanks to Keene activist Darryl W. Perry for bringing this to my attention. Some excerpts from the article below, plus video:

But getting back to the video, it’s an eclectic, borderline schizophrenic mashup of scenic New Hampshire shots interspersed with repeated links to “101 Reasons to Move to NH” and video footage of people being chased by police officers and arrested, with reference to “Victimless Crime Spree,” a feature-length documentary chronicling Free State activist Derrick J Freeman’s* “exciting first year of activism in The Shire,” which he describes as “540 days in jail for dancing, smoking cannabis, going to court, and riding a bike” while living in Keene.

*Of note: Last week Freeman, who has an apparent affinity for Hobbit allusions, left “The Shire” (NH) for “Mordor” (Washington, D.C.), on a “self-imposed exile” from the Free State following a 60-day jail stint. He’s off on a new mission, which he will be chronicling on his blog site, Live Free or Dance, if you are at all interested in knowing more.

DerrickJ Ends The Fed DC 2012

Published by:

Today I went with the Adam Vs The Man crew to Washington, D.C. (Mordor). I went in order to take video of a rally. Adam Kokesh went to speak on a megaphone and help MC the event. He led a march down from the Treasury Building to the Federal Reserve, where about 60 people marched and chanted, “END THE FED, END THE DEBT, END THE WARS.” Upon arrival at the Federal Reserve building, activists lined up to face the building along its front and symbolically turned their backs in an “about face.” Some activists burned dollar bills in front of the building as security guards watched, hopelessly outnumbered by a crowd of peaceful people armed to the teeth with video cameras.

Here’s some video of a speech I gave about living freer by moving to the Shire today:

Here’s all of the raw video I shot that day:

We came back from the house later and made some killer ribs:

DerrickJ Meets Brandon Raub

Published by:

Brandon Raub is a Marine who was taken from his home a month ago while I was in DC covering Lemonade Raw Milk Freedom Day 2012. It shocked me to learn that he was taken to a mental hospital because of some posts on his Facebook page. Apparently, his typings about “Kickstarting the Revolution” and “Severing Heads” (a quote from a song) frightened the folks at the FBI, Secret Service, and his local Sheriff, because they all appeared at his house and took him to a mental hospital. He was never charged with a crime, but now he is no longer allowed to purchase a firearm because he has been involuntarily committed to a mental hospital.

Yesterday morning, Adam Kokesh and the AVTM crew were sitting at our conference table when Adam turned some of us on the news that Raub would be speaking to a group of Republicans in his home town. Rachel Bussell, the AVTM Affiliate Coordinator, and I drove 3+ hours to Surry, VA to attend this meeting. The event began late, and the Republicans were suspicious of Rachel and me in our AVTM hats and cameras. One of the chair people asked if we were there to get a soundbyte and make them sound like crazies. I assured him we were only there to hear Brandon speak, and they he (Brandon) had our support.

While we were waiting, I went out to get pizza. When I came back, I was informed that Rachel had spoken with Raub. He had been eating with a sharply dressed black man (who I suspected to be Raub’s lover) & Lauri (Chairwoman who called the meeting). Rachel relayed to me that while Lauri, who called the event and promoted it on Facebook, had no problem with us recording the event to promote on Adam Vs The Man. Brandon Raub, however, asked us not to record because, he explained, his lawyers asked him not to do any interviews without their permission. He said he had done 3 interviews without telling his lawyers, and they were mad at him for it.

When I met him, he seemed nervous. He looked down a lot, and avoided eye contact for most of the interaction. He sort of talked under his breath, but not too sheepishly. Here’s the video. It speaks for itself.

Also, later, Rachel and I pulled over to get some gas, and I ran into a Sheriff’s deputy who pulled over a woman for cutting him off. He was very friendly.

Derrick J’s Last Appearance on ShireTV

Published by:

Today was huge: It began with the “Criminal Trespass” trials of Ian Freeman and Kelly Voluntaryist. They were charged with Criminal Trespass back in February when I was also charged for allegedly being on Superior Court property without having been given permission by the Sheriff. The end result of the trial is that the date was postponed to November 14th at 9am in District Court in UnfreeKeene, New Hampshire.

Here’s some video from that day in court:

Also!

Today I appeared on ShireTV to discuss the premiere of my new documentary, Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree. I was also able to add some commentary to the topics discussed on today’s episode. It was a blast being back in the CheshireTV studios where FreeKeeneTV was once produced. Because my membership to CheshireTV is no longer valid, I appeared as a “guest” and was not permitted to assist in the setup or breakdown of the equipment. It was a great episode featuring FreeKeene anchor Anarcho-Ali and a new(ish) anchor, James Cleaveland, a hardcore Keene activist who focusses on CopBlocking. Also appearing as a guest on today’s episode was Kelly Voluntaryist, who came on the show to talk about the trial she had earlier that morning.

Here’s the video plus some behind the scenes elements:

Keene PD Denies License AGAIN??

Published by:

What do the Keene Police have to hide?

Today (Aug 7, 2012) I called the Keene Police Department to check the status of my Concealed Carry License application. I applied for the license on July 20. It’s my understanding that NH law requires that the local police department “shall-issue” all valid applicants within 14 days (10 business days) of applying. Applicants must call and ask for an answer–they will not call you. However, if a person has NOT been approved, they will mail that person with an explanation as to why they were denied, and they must do that within 14 days. The clerk (Pat) at the records department said that my application was not in the “approved” pile, and that the man in charge of applications (Michael Goodchild) was on vacation until Aug. 20. She gave me his voicemail, and I left a message. In his voicemail recording, he directs callers to contact Jim McLaughlin with any issues. When I phoned Jim McLaughlin and told him I was audio recording, he told me he did not consent to being recorded and redirected my call to Michael Goodchild’s voicemail again. The third time I called, I explained to the clerk what had happened and asked to speak with someone who would talk to me on the record. After waiting on hold for a few minutes, Pat returned and said that the “Chief of Police” Ken Meola told her that “Captain” Costa would call me back today regarding this issue. Very curious…

The law regarding Concealed Carry Licenses can be found here.
