This week a guy stopped in front of my house in his truck and took my photo. As he drove away, he said, “The Coast Is Queer.” I’m not exactly sure what any of it means. I shared this story on Facebook, and Will Coley responded that there was an academic paper by the same name. He had me on his show to chat about it. At one point, his mic drops, and I am left to riff about freedom and life and awesomeness. But Will returns to save the day and finish out the segment, closing on a point about how the media colors our perception of people and groups, like gays or muslims. We all fight stereotypes.
No underwear? No problem! Where we’re going, we don’t need clothes! Your Rebel Mistress and Derrick J bring you this week’s debauchery. A gay Imam who is leading Islam out of the dark ages. A man and his two wives are attempting to get legally married using the gay marriage decision by SCOTUS, and Homotarians and Gaynarchists bury the hatchet. Plus, much more gayness!
In this episode of Free Talk Live, Darryl Perry runs the board while Danica and I cohost. I share a story about a cartoonist who has been in hiding for over 4 years after creating “Draw Muhammed Day”. This leads to a discussion about racism and whether or not Muslims are disproportionately responsible for modern day terrorism. Also, libertarians hand out cigarettes in protest of Eric Garner’s death.
