Blue lights start flashing behind you on a lonely Virginia highway. What do you do? James Cleaveland started recording. What happened next, he could have never predicted. It’s a good thing he got it all on film!
UPDATE: James’ charges have been dropped. Many speculate this is due to his video record of the events.

Heroic activist, blogger, entrepreneur, and Free State Project participant James Cleaveland was sentenced in Judge Burke’s courtroom in Keene, New Hampshire for the charges of “disorderly conduct” and “resisting arrest”. His charges stem from a June 30th incident in which James was video recording police. According to officer accounts, James was ordered to move back from an “active scene,” and he complied. After complying with the first officer’s request, a different officer demanded he move back further. He refused and was arrested.
During the recent Trial of James Cleaveland, I recorded close-up video. Here it is, for anyone who is interested in another perspective:
I tried to include lots of close-ups of James, the witnesses who testified, the state attorney Jean Kilham, and of course Judge Burke.
Today was huge: It began with the “Criminal Trespass” trials of Ian Freeman and Kelly Voluntaryist. They were charged with Criminal Trespass back in February when I was also charged for allegedly being on Superior Court property without having been given permission by the Sheriff. The end result of the trial is that the date was postponed to November 14th at 9am in District Court in UnfreeKeene, New Hampshire.
Here’s some video from that day in court:
Today I appeared on ShireTV to discuss the premiere of my new documentary, Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree. I was also able to add some commentary to the topics discussed on today’s episode. It was a blast being back in the CheshireTV studios where FreeKeeneTV was once produced. Because my membership to CheshireTV is no longer valid, I appeared as a “guest” and was not permitted to assist in the setup or breakdown of the equipment. It was a great episode featuring FreeKeene anchor Anarcho-Ali and a new(ish) anchor, James Cleaveland, a hardcore Keene activist who focusses on CopBlocking. Also appearing as a guest on today’s episode was Kelly Voluntaryist, who came on the show to talk about the trial she had earlier that morning.
